Grinnell's First Friday Fest to kick off the 4th of July Weekend!

Friday July 3rd kick off the big weekend with Big Daddy Blues.
Join us on Main Street & 4th Avenue from 6 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Beer, wine, food, shopping, art, and a Bikes To You Kids' Zone will be available for all to enjoy!


Saturday Farmer's Market: Saturday, July 4th 10 a.m. - Noon Central Park

4th of July Parades:
10th Avenue & 10th Avenue Place Parade: 9:30 a.m.
Grinnell Country Club Parade: 10 a.m.
City of Grinnell Parade: 4:30 p.m.

4th of July parade forms and information are available at the Chamber of Commerce office. Forms need to be completed and returned by Thursday, July 2 with the $5 entry fee and late entry forms after that will cost $10. The parade will begin at 4:30 pm on July 4, winding through Grinnell from south East Street, Hamilton to Broad Street, 10th Avenue to Penrose south to 7th Avenue.

Come to Ahrens Park after the Parade! At 7 p.m. enjoy classic hits from the "Rewinders" Band and the "Firecracker Revue" Talent Showcase. Plus enjoy ball games, kids' games, great food, and more! Fireworks show at 9:45 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets!

Stewart Library Sock Hop: Thursday, June 25th. Swing with the beat to kid-friendly music and learn a step or two with professional DJ and dance teacher, Faythe Kubik. 1 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. - Grades K-3 and families. 2 p.m. - 2:45 p.m. - Grades 4-6 and families

Iowa Health Home Care Healthy Living Topic: "Leg Health and Compression Therapy" Thursday, June 25th 1 p.m. at the Grinnell Home Care Center. Light refreshments will be provided. Grinnell Young Professionals Wine Tasting: Friday, June 26th 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. Cafe Phoenix, 4th and Park in Grinnell. Kamal and Laura will feature a selection of wines to enjoy while grilling or on the patio, a perfect complement to warm summer evenings. Light hors d'ouevres will be provided. Weather permitting, it will be on the patio. Cost is $10. Receive a $5 discount if you purchase a bottle of wine or stay for dinner.

2nd Annual Croquet Tournament/BBQ at Tassel Ridge Winery: Saturday, June 27th from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. - Croquet Practice, Tournament Registration, and BBQ. Price: $15 per person, plus tax. 1:00 p.m. Tournament Begins. Join us for outdoor fun on the beautiful Tassel Ridge Winery grounds at our 2nd annual croquet tournament! Come anytime between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. to practice, register, and enjoy a BBQ lunch featuring a grilled steak sandwich, roasted potato leek salad, and strawberry shortcake. We will be selling wine by the bottle and our special wine-a-ritas to enjoy n our terrace. If you have never played croquet before or you need a refresher course, our croquet experts will be standing by to assist you with the basics of this classic lawn game. The tournament will begin at 1:00 p.m. Prizes will be awarded to the winners! Advance reservations are required by Wednesday, June 24. Summer wines and the living is easy!

Friday, June 26, 5-7 pm join Grinnell Young Professionals for a wine tasting at Cafe Phoenix, 4th and Park in Grinnell.

P.A.L.S. Dog's Night Out:
Wednesday, June 17th 4:30 p.m. - 8 p.m. at West Side Family Restaurant. A special menu has been planned for you & your pooch! Space is limited, so call today to make your reservations 236-4288. This event is sponsored by Poweshiek Animal League Shelter and proceeds will go to the Doggy Digs Fund, a dog housing expansion project at the shelter.

Live Music at Saints Rest:
Wednesday, June 17th from 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Gypsy Dave and the Stumpjumpers. This is a fabulous Bluegrass/Americana band from Pennsylvania and have performed at Saints Rest last summer.

Grinnell's 36th Annual Vintage Car Show: Sunday, June 21st 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Central Park. 28 Classes, including: Antique, Classic, Muscle, Custom, Street Rod, Stock 50s & 60s, and Trucks. Great family entertainment and food! Don't miss the highlight of the show - Hillbilly Bob and his 1929 Model "A" Ford "Old Ruthie!"

The Indy Corn 250 at the Iowa Speedway:
Newton will be hosting a string of events at the Iowa Speedway for the Iowa Corn Indy 250 beginning Friday check out the www.iowaspeedway.com website for more information. Sunday's race will be televised on ABC beginning check your local listings for times!
