Faulconer Friday coming February 27

You are invited to the next Faulconer Friday, February 27, 4:15 pm, in the Grinnell College Bucksbaum Center for the Arts Room 132 (6th Avenue and Park Street). Enjoy a glass of wine or sparkling water and unwind at the end of the week. Sample from a selection of delicious cheese and fruits. Bring a friend or partner!

Space is limited, so RSVP to Tilly Woodward (269-4663 or woodward@grinnell.edu) by noon, February 24th to reserve your spot!

Dan Strong, Associate Director of the Faulconer Gallery, will give a tour of “Animated Painting,” an amazing exhibition by 12 international contemporary artists who adapt animation concepts and technologies in making their art, combining handwork, digital technology, traditional art forms such as drawing, conventional animation techniques, live-action sequences, abstraction, and collage. Animated Painting was curated by Betti-Sue Hertz, Director of Visual Arts, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, San Francisco.

Vote Grinnell as one of the "coolest small towns in America"

We received this message from Bill Menner, Director of POW I-80, earlier today:
I noted on the Budget Travel website a ‘coolest small towns in America’ headline. The website/magazine was seeking nominations for interesting towns of under 10,000.

So, I nominated Grinnell – citing the city’s sense of community, history, architecture, recreational opportunities and the College. They received more than 150 nominations, and culled that list to 22 finalists.

Grinnell is among them! And it’s the only place in Iowa among the 22.

Now, we need you to go vote. And we need your friends, family, co-workers, distant relatives, acquaintances, etc, to cast their votes, too.

Go here to vote and say a few nice things about the community!

http://www.budgettravel.com/bt-srv/coolestsmalltowns/

You’ll note that the two coasts are heavily represented. We need to ensure some geographic diversity!!
As of this post, Grinnell was sixth with 654 votes. Huntingdon, Pennsylvania led all finalists with 3,593 votes. Make your voice heard. Vote and help make Grinnell first!
