Grinnell College Celebrates 150 years/Last Friday Fest of the year

Grinnell College will be celebrating 150 years in Grinnell!

The College will be holding parents weekend beginning on Friday and have several activities open to the public during this time.

There will be campus tours Friday October 2nd at 11am and 3pm, which depart from the Joe Rosenfield Center lobby located at 1115 8th Ave.

Saturday October 3rd, from 11:30-1:30 enjoy a Taste of Grinnell. Sample cuisine from Grinnell's unique and outstanding local restaurants for a modest price.

At 8:30pm join Professor George Drake as he presents "The History of Yesterday and Today" a look at Grinnell College history in room 101 at the Joe Rosenfield Center.

The last Friday Fest of the year will be held on Friday October 2nd. Come downtown and enjoy music by a Grinnell College Band from 4-5:30, Crossroads from 6-9. Beer, wine, food and shopping are also available! Join us for the after party at Lonnski's following Friday Fest! THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELED

2009 YPIowa Conference

The 2009 YPIowa Conference hosted by The Young Professionals Connection of Des Moines is a chance for young professionals from across the state to get together to network, share, and learn from each other, as well as established professionals and speakers not only from Iowa, but across the nation. The 2009 YPIowa Conference will focus on three essential components: live, work and play; with breakout sessions that are interactive and engaging. Some of this year’s speakers include Motivational Presenter and Strategic Planner, Jim Verlengia, Business Leader Kyle Krause and the Keynote Speaker “The Nametag Guy”, Scott Ginsberg.

When and Where?
The 2009 YPIowa Conference will be held Thursday, September 17th and Friday, September 18th. The primary events of the conference will be held in Des Moines, IA at The Downtown Marriott Hotel – 700 Grand Ave. Other social events will be held in the surrounding metro area.

Pioneer Bookshop to host gathering

The next Grinnell Young Professionals (GYP) gathering will be held on Thursday, September 17, from 5pm-6pm at the Pioneer Bookshop at 823 4th Ave in downtown Grinnell.

This event will be an opportunity to browse through their selection of books, clothing, games, toys and more! The Pioneer Bookshop would like to extend a special offer to our GYP guests on all purchases. The Pioneer Bookshop will be serving wine, a non-alcoholic beverage, cheese and crackers.

Feel free to stick around and browse after the event. The Bookshop will remain open until 8pm!
